Advancing Clinical Trials in Canada and Experience in Perioperative Trials

Speaker: Dr. PJ Devereaux, Professor, McMaster University
-Director, Division of Perioperative Care, McMaster University
-Senior Scientist and Scientific Leader of the Anesthesiology, Perioperative Medicine, and Surgical Research Group at the Population Health Research Institute

At the end of the presentation, the audience will:

  1. Gain insights into the current landscape for doing clinical trials in Canada
  2. Learn about Accelerating Clinical Trials (ACT) Pan-Canadian Clinical Trials Consortium
  3. Understand ACT’s guiding principle, structure, and initiatives
  4. Receive an overview of perioperative trials evaluating interventions targeting the sympathetic system, coagulation system, bleeding hemodynamics, inflammatory system, timing of surgery, and virtual care with remote monitoring technology
