Blended Learning

What is Blended Learning at Desautels?

At McGill Desautels, blended learning refers to a combination of in-person and online teaching and learning activities necessary for students to achieve the learning outcomes of a course. Per McGill guidelines, for a course to be considered blended, more than 15% but less than 50% of scheduled activities are online and implemented only with Faculty approval.

In-person courses

Blended courses

• 4-12 online classes (26-class course)
• 2-6 online classes (13-class course)

Online courses

When blending a course, a preferred scenario is for students to access content outside of scheduled class time through pre-recorded videos and companion activities, while increasing opportunities for application and experiential learning in the in-person environment.
