The mini-MBA: Can it pack a big career punch?

Adrian Jess has gone from selling vinyl records under the nickname the Human Jukebox to packing boxes at the medical goods company where he now works, and then becoming its director of technical services and logistics – but he’s still looking to gain that career edge.

... Mini-MBAs, an MBA boot camp aimed mostly at middle managers, might seem like a new phenomenon, but they can be traced back in Canada to the late 1940s at McGill University in Montreal.

McGill’s Desautels Faculty of Management now has various mini-MBA programs: Its executive development course, which will be offered starting at $3,000 in cities including Toronto, Calgary and Ottawa in 2015, condenses topics from MBA and executive MBA courses into eight days.
