Professor Robert David named Vice-Dean of Faculty

Professor Robert David has been appointed Vice-Dean (Faculty) of the Desautels Faculty of Management at McGill University.

Robert joined McGill in 2000 as Assistant Professor of Strategy & Organization. He was promoted to Associate Professor in 2007 before becoming Full Professor in 2016. In June 2017, Robert was appointed to the newly created position of Academic Director (Research). In this position, he is responsible for assisting professors with their grant applications and providing invaluable mentorship and support to the junior professors in their research. In his new capacity of Vice-Dean (Faculty), Robert will retain his responsibilities as Academic Director (Research).

Robert’s teaching and academic support have previously been honoured with the Faculty of Management’s Distinguished Teaching Award and the Desautels Doctoral Student Society’s Best Advisor Award. Prior to joining McGill, Robert taught Management & Organizations at Cornell University, where he obtained his PhD. He is currently a Visiting Professor (Honourary) at the Adam Smith School of Business at the University of Glasgow.

Following Dean Isabelle Bajeux-Besnainou’s resignation from Desautels, current Vice-Dean Morty Yalovsky will be stepping into the position of Interim Dean on October 1, 2020. Assuming his new position on October 1, 2020, Professor David will be instrumental in supporting the Faculty during this period of transition for Desautels.
