The Substance of Style

In 2007, a little known blog called The Business of Fashion was started by a Calgarian living in London. He wrote posts from his apartment after he noticed a lack of fashion trade publications online. Five years later, the site has become a major presence in the industry with editors, entrepreneurs and fashion enthusiasts from around the world. In the fickle world of fashion, five years is a lifetime and BoF, as the blog is affectionately known, celebrated its anniversary with parties at New York and London fashion weeks last month. Its founder, Imran Amed (BCom'97), has gone from being an outsider to one of the most respected presences and front row fixtures at major runway shows. Amed also sits on the new menswear committee for London Fashion Week and the British Fashion Council alongside Tom Ford, Christopher Bailey, Sir Paul Smith and fellow Canadian David Furnish.
