Mary Van Buren (MBA'88) has been appointed president of the Canadian Construction Association (CCA), bringing years of experience to the role.

Van Buren has worked in the private, public and not-for-profit sectors and has held executive roles at leading organizations, including the Canadian Medical Association's subsidiary, MD Financial Management, and Export Development Canada.

Desautels alumna to teach the ins and outs of wine business

Plumpton College in East Sussex, UK has strengthened its wine business and production teaching team with the appointment of Lindsay Holas (BCom'12) as wine business lecturer.

To this new role, Holas will bring extensive international marketing experience from her time working for Jascots Wine Merchant (UK), Domaine Select Wine Estates (USA), and Wine Intelligence (UK).

The world is consciousness according to IMHL alumnus

According to a piece co-authored by Anoop Kumar (IMHL’15), the matter that comprises the world around us can be boiled down to our consciousness manifest.

More than an amalgamation of atoms or particles, the authors maintain that our experience of the world is actually an experience of consciousness, and that our education system has the responsibility to address these concepts in the classroom.

Announcement of Knight Therapeutics CFO resignation

Knight Therapeutics has announced the resignation of its chief financial officer, as the company’s president and Desautels International Faculty Advisory Board member, Samira Sakhia (BCom’90, DPA’94, MBA’01), takes on the additional responsibility of CFO.

Desautels alumna appointed CFO at Loop Industries

D. Jennifer Rhee (BCom’88, DPA’89) has been named Chief Financial Officer at Loop Industries, a manufacturer of environmentally responsible Purified Terephthalic Acid (PTA) and Mono Ethylene Glycol (MEG). Ms. Rhee has over 25 years of finance, accounting, international tax and management experience, having worked, most recently, as a partner with Richter LLP since January 2007.
