Biography: 

Ainsley Jenicek is a licensed Couple and Family Therapist, Social Worker, and Psychotherapist and is also trained as a Somatic Experiencing Practitioner. She merges systemic, experiential and somatic therapy techniques in her work with individuals, couples and families. She has worked for many years at the Jewish General Hospital offering individual and family therapy to youth with mental health issues and in private practice offering individual, couple and family therapy to youth and adults expereincing a variety of difficulties. She has experience in relationship conflict, communication problems, depression, anxiety, other mental health issues, interpersonal trauma, grief and loss, as well as important life transitions. Over the years, she has worked with people of diverse backgrounds and identities, including cultural, religious, racial, sexual and gender minorities, and brings these elements into her therapy work when they seem to influence the presenting problems. Since 2019, she also has taught courses on couple therapy, family assessment, and adult mental health to MSW students and Couple and Family Therapy trainees at McGill. She is currently in private practice and is pursuing her PhD on chosen kin and alternative family systems.
