Alternative Spring Break (ASB)  takes place during McGill’s Reading Week, offering students the opportunity to spend five days participating in various activities with local Montreal organizations. Students will learn about and contribute to social justice issues, develop skills related to civic engagement, and immerse themselves in diverse projects.

ExCELR is a teaching and learning approach that integrates volunteer community work with academic study to enrich learning, teach civic responsibility, and strengthen communities.

Schools Outreach Programs

Our Schools Outreach Programs, including Homework Zone, My Day at McGill, and Spaghetti Nights Family workshops, foster close partnerships and mentorship opportunities between McGill and local public schools.

Land Acknowledgment

Map of Montreal

McGill University is situated on the traditional territory of the Kanien’keha:ka, a place which has long served as a site of meeting and exchange amongst nations. We recognize and respects the Kanien’keha:ka as the traditional custodians of the lands and waters on which we meet today.*

Recognizing the history of where you stand is important, and becoming increasingly common practice when hosting events and activities across Canada.

Here are a few tips to remember if you want to make a land acknowledgment before a class presentation, in a written document, or when hosting an event.
