Current research:

My laboratory is interested in precisely understanding the molecular mechanisms that cells have evolved to process information in order to make specific decisions. We are drawn to study the establishment and maintenance of cellular identity since they are fundamental to developmental biology and disease such as cancer or genetic and rare diseases. Specifically, we are interested in understanding how cells use transcriptional and signaling networks for decision making. Our lab is interdisciplinary and we utilize single-cell quantitative methods (including genomics, transcriptomics, proteomics and imaging), computational biology and mathematical modelling. Our goal is to both understand the cellular decision making and control or engineer (reprogram) cells for useful purposes, such as creating better stem cells and driving the cells away from a disease state.

Projects:

1. Pluripotent stem cell heterogeneity and its significance.
2. Cell state specific configuration and reconfiguration of regulatory networks.
3. Information flow through cell signaling networks.
