Published: 25 May 2018

We wish to congratulate Drs. Fanny Hersson-Edery and Bertrand Lebouché on both receiving awards of the Quebec College of Family Physicians (CQMF) for their contribution to teaching and research in family medicine.

The aim of these awards is to reward members who, over the past 12 to 24 months, have made outstanding contributions in a specific area in one or more of the following areas: patient care, community service; hospital or health facility; activities within the College (national or provincial level); teaching, research or other components of the academic discipline of family medicine.

Dr. Hersson-Edery practices family medicine at GMF-U Herzl and CLSC Côte-des-Neiges. She is also responsible for teaching obstetrics and is the director of Enhanced Skills Program within the Department of Family Medicine.

Her contribution to medical education has been highlighted by the CQMF, as she has developed a residential curriculum for residents in the home care program and a specific six-month maternal and midwifery program for residents who want additional training in obstetrics.

Dr. Lebouché has been working with patients living with HIV and the hepatitis C virus since 2012. He has joined the research team of the MUHC's Chronic Viral Illness Service. He is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Family Medicine at McGill University and, since 2014, a Junior Clinical Research Fellow of the Quebec Health Research Fund.

In the past five years, he has published a thesis, 31 articles in peer-reviewed journals, and two book chapters. He has also edited a book and given more than 100 presentations at conferences and community organizations. His work in regards to integrating the perspective of people living with HIV and clinicians has led him to receive this award for his contribution to research in family medicine.

Congratulations!
