Sustainable Seafood

SHHS is committed to purchasing sustainable seafood.

McGill was the first Canadian University to be recognized by the Marine Stewardship Council (MSC) and receive the MSC Chain of Custody Certification.

During 2017-18 school year, 60% of seafood served at non-franchised locations on campus was certified sustainable by Marine Stewardship Council (MSC) or Best Aquaculture Practices (BAP), leading certification programs for sustainable fishing and farming practices.

RVC, BMH, and Douglas serve Wild Planet Tuna. Wild Plant uses low-impact fishing practices that are recognized by international groups like Greenpeace and Monterey Bay Aquarium Seafood Watch as best practice in harvest technique.
