Transplantation, Hepatobiliary & Pancreatic Surgery Fellowship

The Division of General Surgery is offering a two year Fellowship in Transplant, Hepatobiliary and Pancreas Surgery. The Fellowship offers an integrated experience of clinical care (operative and out-patient) and teaching related to liver, bile duct and pancreas pathology and transplantation of liver, pancreas and kidney.

Experience will be gained in oncological principles of hepatobiliary and pancreatic cancers; liver, pancreatic and bile duct surgery; liver, pancreas and kidney transplantation and ERCPS.   The following will be carried out at the Royal Victoria Hospital.

The first year is a Junior Clinical Research Fellowship that consists of 75% research (which may be clinical or basic science) and 25% clinical work such as organ donor retrievals and occasional coverage of the wards and attendance of program associated conferences.  The Junior Clinical Research Fellowship could lead to a Master's in Experimental Surgery, writing and publications.

The second year is a Senior Clinical Fellowship that consists of Clinical Work in the operating rooms, wards and office settings.  In essence this becomes 75% clinical and 25% research.

Applicants must have completed an accredited residency program in General Surgery and must be eligible for the Fellowship as per the Faculty of Medicine's requirements. We are unable to consider trainees who do not meet the eligibility criteria outlined in the following section of the fellowship application, or whose file is incomplete. Applicants must also ensure that they meet the eligibility criteria for postgraduate training in the province of Quebec prior to application.
