Dr. Marilyn N. Ahun is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Medicine, and an associate member of the Department of Global and Public Health. After completing a Bachelor’s degree in Honors Psychology (McGill), she went on to pursue a PhD in Public Health and Health Promotion (Université de Montréal) and a Postdoctoral Fellowship in Global Health (Harvard T.H. Dr. Ahun uses qualitative and quantitative methods to examine the mechanisms through which parental mental health influences child development and mental health in global contexts. Another axis of her research aims to develop multi-component interventions to improve child development and overall family wellbeing. Dr. Ahun also collaborates with local researchers and policymakers to examine the implementation and effectiveness of interventions within Ghana’s mental healthcare system. Her research has been supported by funds from CIHR, SSHRC, Thrasher Research Fund, and the Society for Research in Child Development.
