Blake Linthwaite is a medical student and a McGill Global Health Scholar supported by the Dr. Margaret Siber Global Health Scholar Award. Blake will work with Dr. Evan Wong of the Department of Surgery.
"I will be traveling to Nunavik as part of Dr. Evan Wong's team at the Centre for Global Surgery. Our aim is to help implement a trauma registry, called AMBER, in order to better assess the epidemiology of traumatic injuries in the region. We also have studies underway to better understand the nature of surgical care in remote communities, and how to improve it.
I am excited to contribute, even a small part, to a team that is both committed to working with community partners and aiming for long-term, positive changes in healthcare for remote communities in Northern Canada."
