Research Visitorship in NCDs

This grant is for healthcare and allied professionals, faculty, and/or medical residents from a low-income country, who wish to further their professional development while conducting a scholarly research project in the area of non-communicable diseases. This grant is designed to cover expenses for a 1- to 2-month visit to McGill University and its affiliated health centers. The application can be done by an individual OR by a team regrouping at least one resident, faculty, and allied healthcare professional. The applicant(s) need(s) to submit a scientific project which can be - at least partially - accomplished in the given time frame. Applicants should be proficient in either French, English or both. The application can be submitted in either language.

Applicants need to be sponsored by a McGill faculty with expertise relevant to their research project. This person can be contacted by the applicants, or in the event that applicants cannot find a McGill sponsor by their own means, the GNCDA can assist in finding a match.

The funding provided for this competitive grant is CAD$5,000 per grantee. Grantee(s) will give credit to the GNCDA on any publication arising from the work done during the visitorship. The recipient(s) will be expected to submit a post-travel report of their research and experience to the GNCDA within three (3) months of visitorship completion.

How to apply?

Documents required to apply for the NCD Alliance Summer Visitorship

  1. CV of each applicant
  2. Description of significance of previous research contributions, career aspirations and rationale for the decision to pursue research and/or clinical experience at the McGill University Health Centre (1 page, single-spaced)
  3. Official letter of support from applicant’s own institution (supervisor/colleague, maximum 1 page, single-spaced)
  4. Official letter of support from the McGill faculty sponsor (maximum 1 page, single-spaced)
  5. Research Proposal (maximum 3 pages, single-spaced)
