Program Description
The Master of Arts (M.A.) in Jewish Studies (Thesis) offered by the Department of Jewish Studies in the Faculty of Arts is a research-intensive program that emphasizes in-depth and dynamic learning opportunities. The program's objective is to equip students with skills in intellectual independence, literature review, and research dissemination to either continue their studies or pursue professional opportunities.

Unique Program Features
- The program is aimed at students who have acquired some background in Jewish studies through their B.A. and who wish to add to their knowledge through advanced research without having to concentrate on one period or discipline within the broad field of Jewish civilizational studies;
- Courses will be chosen according to each student’s individual interests in consultation with the Graduate Program Director;
- Courses may be taken in other departments if relevant to the student’s program of studies;
- The Department's Faculty members expertise relates to the Hebrew Bible and its interpretation, rabbinics and codes, medieval and modern Jewish thought, Eastern European Jewish history, Jewish literature (Hebrew, Yiddish, English), and contemporary North American Jewish life.

- An eligible Bachelor's degree with a minimum 3.0 GPA out of a possible 4.0 GPA
- English-language proficiency
