Kinesiology Sciences (PhD)

Program Description

The Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) in Kinesiology Sciences offered by the Department of Kinesiology and Physical Education in the Faculty of Education is a research-intensive program that emphasizes in-depth and engaging learning opportunities. The program's objective is to equip students with skills in critical thinking, data collection, and scientific communication to pursue professional opportunities in academia or industry.

Unique Program Features

  • The program provides graduate research training in kinesiology-related areas such as exercise physiology, biomechanics, motor control, physical and health education pedagogy, and sport, exercise and health psychology provided by a rich environment in the Department;
  • There are five possible specializations: Biomechanics & Neuroscience; Exercise Physiology; Physical and Health Education, Sport Sociology & Cultural Studies; Adapted Physical Activity; Sport & Exercise Physiology;
  • Faculty members engage in research covering a broad topic range which includes muscle, cardiovascular and respiratory (patho)physiology; nutrition and exercise metabolism; musculoskeletal health; body composition; aging; prevention and management of chronic disease; and rehabilitative exercise training, including prehabilitation.

University-Level Admission Requirements

  • An eligible Bachelor's degree with a minimum 3.0 GPA out of a possible 4.0 GPA
  • English-language proficiency
