Using a Working Index to Trace the Narrative of your Thesis (for Humanities and Social Science)

This workshop will introduce the method of “concept indexing”, which is applicable to thesis construction at the research, writing, and revision stages. Concept indexing allows you to track frequently used terms, theories, and sources that reoccur across the body of the project, beginning even during the collation of research. By tracking these frequently used concepts in conjunction with brief notes on their different contextual uses, the establishment and maintenance of a clear, concise, and continuous narrative of the thesis as a whole becomes tangible.

Requirements: Please bring a laptop or a pen and paper to write on.

Dr. Sarah Stunden, course lecturer in McGill's English department, will lead the workshop.

The workshop will take place on the downtown campus on Wednesday, April 3rd from 2:00 pm to 4:00 pm.  Registrants will receive the workshop location in a confirmation email.
