Knowledge Translation

In order to determine if the vision of the HCIC survey, which is to provide reliable evidence to inform and influence the improvement of Canadian health policy and care is actually being achieved, the HCIC membership continues a proactive strategy of communications planning and impact-assessment.

The communications plan is designed to support the HCIC survey partners in their dissemination of the findings from the HCIC survey. The objectives of the knowledge translation (KT) activities are to increase HCIC member awareness of the survey’s information value, and to increase external audience awareness and valuing of the HCIC survey information as a contemporary, evidence-based source to inform and improve health policy and practices.

To provide strategic advice, guidance and support into planning, implementation and KT Knowledge Translation (KT) activities surrounding the HCIC Survey Initiative, a KT Committee has been established. Translation of knowledge gained in the HCIC surveys has been, and continues to be, guided by the KT Committee via peer-reviewed publications, live webinars and HCIC website postings. The KT Committee, consisting of consultants from CareNet and Strive Health Management Inc. and members from the Constance Lethbridge Rehabilitation Centre and John Aylen Communications, meet regularly over the course of the year. HCIC members are welcome to participate/have participated in KT Committee meeting discussions. The HCIC KT Committee has received financial support from Merck Canada Inc. and Innovative Medicines Canada for its activities, including compensation for sub-contractors.

The HCIC members offer opportunities to share this content through their extensive networks, and the HCIC KT Committee is well positioned to facilitate this work.
