Health Psychology Laboratory

We develop theory-derived intensive behavioral interventions for health behavior change and evaluate them in randomized controlled trials. For example, we are currently developing and testing the effectiveness of a series of behavioral weight management programs that target emotional eating. We are also developing brief behavioral interventions that can effectively be delivered on a large scale by non-experts in behavior change (e.g., physicians, dieticians). Other projects include the promotion of sleep in adolescents, the mechanisms and effects of mindfulness interventions, the promotion of physical exercise, and improving medication adherence.
