Time to celebrate self care!
The #SelfCareCelebration (formerly known as the #SelfCareChallenge) is Healthy McGill's 6th annual event aimed at encouraging students to practice new ways of taking care of themselves and their peers. The point of this challenge is to get you thinking about self care and potentially doing it, when you might not otherwise, especially during midterms. As with everything at Healthy McGill, we advocate for you finding and doing what's best for you! We're here to help support you in whatever that is!
The 2019 Self Care Celebration will run for 12 days, February 4 - 15, with five self care activities to choose from every day. Do one, two, all five, or make up your own, and show/tell us about it on Facebook, Instagram, or Snapchat using #SelfCareCelebration.
The Healthy McGill team will also be hosting various events across campus throughout the Celebration - stay tuned for a list of events!
All participants in the Self Care Celebration, whether online or at one of our many events, can enter to win a grand prize draw for a wide variety of goodies and gifts! Details of the prizes will be announced soon!
What is self care?
Self care consists of actions and attitudes which can contribute to the maintenance of well-being and personal health. Activities like showering, doing your dishes, and getting out of bed can contribute to your self care, as can other activities like spending time with loved ones, being active, and taking time for yourself. Self care is not one size fits all and can look different to different people. Self care doesn’t have to be something that costs money or takes up lots of time.
While self care is a part of maintaining well-being, it’s important to seek out other support and resources as needed, and recognize that there are a lot of factors that can influence how you’re feeling. As with everything at Healthy McGill, we advocate for you finding and doing what's right for you.
