Since our last update, the parties met nine times throughout the Fall term and four times since the beginning of 2019. Each meeting lasted half a day. The discussions on several topics progressed and the parties were able to reach agreements on many articles, namely definitions, grievance and arbitration, union rights and privileges, disciplinary measures and employment files.
Significant progress was made, and ongoing discussions are still occurring on the articles relative to position posting and selection of Teaching Assistants. Further discussions will occur in upcoming meetings, and parties are hopeful that agreements in these matters will be reached soon. The parties will then address the clause relative to discrimination and harassment.
Weekly meetings are planned through the end of April.
