Negotiation Update: Post-doctoral Fellows
Negotiations for Post-doctoral Fellows (Researchers) between AMURE and McGill began in June of 2021 and the parties have met regularly since then. The parties have been able to discuss and come to agreement on several non-monetary elements within the collective agreement. In February 2022, the parties obtained the assistance of a Conciliator appointed by the Ministère du Travail to assist them in progressing towards an agreement.
MUNACA - New Collective Agreement
We are pleased to announce that the negotiation between McGill and MUNACA has now come to an end, after two years of discussions.
The appointment of an arbitrator by the Ministry of Labour allowed the parties to agree on more topics during the recent months of July and August, until she rendered a decision on the last item in dispute on September 9, 2022.
SEU Trades & Powerhouse - Downtown and Macdonald Campus
We are pleased to announce that all three units of the Service Employees Union (SEU) have voted in favour of the proposed new collective agreement. Following the vote last week by the Downtown Campus Trades Bargaining Unit, the Trades and Powerhouse employees of the Macdonald campus and Downtown Powerhouse employees represented by SEU completed their vote on June 15.
Negotiation update: SEU Trades & Powerhouse - Downtown and Macdonald Campus
Members of the Downtown Campus Trades Bargaining Unit of the Service Employees Union met on June 8 and voted in favour of the proposed new collective agreement. This new agreement replaces the agreement that expired on May 31, 2019 and will expire on May 31, 2025. General Assemblies for the ratification of the agreement by the remaining two units – Downtown Powerhouse and Trades & Powerhouse Macdonald – will be held on June 13 and 15 respectively.

Global Agreement Reached with 3 SEU groups
McGill University has agreed on all aspects of new collective agreements with three bargaining units represented by SEU: Trades (Downtown Campus); Powerhouse (Downtown Campus); Trades & Powerhouse (Macdonald Campus). The Union will soon invite its membership to general assemblies to vote on the proposed new collective agreements. The parties have agreed not to communicate the contents of the agreements until the votes has taken place.
Negotiation Update - AMUSE (Casual Employees)
The AMUSE Union for casual employees held its General Assembly online on January 25, 2022 to present the tentative agreement to its members. We are pleased to announce that members voted in favor of the proposed new collective agreement. The current agreement expired on May 31, 2020. The new agreement will come into effect upon signature by the parties and will expire on May 31, 2025.

We are pleased to announce that following a year and half of collective agreement negotiations between the parties, McGill and AMUSE (AMUSE/PSAC) reached an agreement in principle on December 16, 2021.

The parties have engaged in exploratory and detailed discussions regarding the inclusion of Student Housing and Hospitality’s principles and values in the collective agreement, the guest sign-in policy for staff, and the number of guests permitted in an employee’s room.
