The information below is adapted from the 2011-12 key dates document approved in April 2010 and subsequently revised in March 2011 by Senate. These are the dates around which all other academic activities are built. FALL 2011
- Classes begin Thursday, September 1 (except for Dentistry and Medicine students – please see faculty schedules)
- Classes end Tuesday, December 6*
- Study day, Wednesday, December 7
- Exams begin Thursday, December 8
- Exams end Thursday, December 22 (11 days, including evening exams)
* On Tuesday, December 6, the normal "Tuesday" schedule of course lectures, labs and conferences activities will be replaced by a "Monday" schedule to make up for a shortfall of Mondays in the fall term. It is important to check the attached Appendix for examples of the end dates for specific schedule patterns.
Legal holidays
Administrative offices are closed on the following dates:
- Labour Day: Monday, September 5
- Thanksgiving: Monday, October 10
In addition, administrative offices are also closed during the holiday break: Friday, Dec. 23, 2011 to Monday, January 2, 2012 inclusive.

WINTER 2012
- Classes begin Tuesday January 3 for all Physical and Occupational Therapy students, first year Dentistry students, and first year Medicine students (Medicine students in other years – see faculty schedule)
- Classes begin Monday, January 9 for all other students (including second, third and fourth year Dentistry students)
- Study Break February 20 to 24 (some exceptions apply)
- Study days Saturday & Sunday, April 14-15
- Classes end Monday, April 16*
- Exams begin Tuesday, April 17
- Exams end Monday, April 30 (10 days, including evening exams)
