Infectious Diseases Outpatient Clinics
The MUHC Infectious Disease clinics offer:
- specialized evaluations for patients referred by their physicians for the evaluation and management of various suspected or proven infections.
These include:- skin and soft tissue infections,
- urinary tract infections,
- bone and joint infections,
- cardiac infections,
- surgical wound infections,
- pneumonia,
- diarrhea,
- C. difficile infections,
- sexually transmitted diseases
- skin and soft tissue infections,
- specialized clinics for patients with mycobacterial and fungal infections.

- care for patients who receive intravenous antibiotics at home.
Clinics are held daily at both the Montreal General Hospital and Royal Victoria Hospital (Glen Site) and weekly at Lachine Hospital.

Chronic Viral Illness Service
The Chronic Viral Illness Service (CVIS) provides multidisciplinary care and support for adults with chronic infections due to human immunodeficiency virus (HIV), hepatitis C, hepatitis B or human papillomavirus. The CVIS is one of Canada’s largest clinics specializing in these viral illnesses and provides state-of-the-art diagnosis, care and treatment for these infections and their associated medical illnesses. The CVIS team includes medical specialists and general practitioners, a psychiatrist and psychologist, specialized nurses, an outreach nurse, pharmacists, social workers and a nutritionist.
Research activities include clinical trials of antiviral and immune based therapies, HIV and hepatitis C co-infection, the diagnosis and treatment of human papilloma virus illnesses in men and women, and the impact of HIV on brain (neurocognitive) function. The CVIS also has a busy training program for residents and medical students.

J.D. MacLean Centre for Tropical Diseases
The J.D. MacLean Centre for Tropical Diseases sees patients with any kind of illness related to travel in, or immigration from, a tropical or low-resource region, as well as parasitic infections of all types. The Pre-travel Clinic provides health assessments and recommendation to travellers. We provide a wide range of routine and travel related vaccinations. No referral is required.

Infectious Diseases Susceptibility Program
The Infectious Disease Susceptibility Program is the only internationally-recognized translational research program on Inborn Errors of Immunity (also called Primary Immunodeficiency Disorders) at the MUHC.
This program studies patients who are unusually susceptible to infections, so as to identify the genetic or molecular defects in their immune system that renders them susceptible to these infections, and to translate those findings into new treatments.
The clinic receives referrals to evaluate patients for underlying immunodeficiencies, focusing primarily on patients with recurrent infections, infections with unusual organisms, or unusually severe infections.

Presenting a Jewish General Hospital hospital card is obligatory for each visit.
Hospital cards can be obtained in Pavilion E, Room 0014, near the Légaré St. entrance.
The clinic may sometimes refuse new registration without notification if there is a surplus of patients that are already registered for consultation that morning.
The clinic staff are unable to determine waiting times. Each person requires a different amount of attention and care. Please understand that we hope to expedite your visit as quickly as possible.

The ID division of St Mary’s Hospital Centre (part of the CIUSSS-ODIM) offers a range of clinical and microbiological expertise to a large group of Family Medicine Practitioners, Medical and Surgical specialists. We work within a 280-bed acute care hospital recognized for its excellence in care and teaching, which also serves as the base for the largest family medicine training centre among the McGill sites, and one of the largest birthing centres in Montreal. We provide ID consultation services (inpatient and ambulatory) to a diverse and multicultural population in the Cote des Neiges area of Montreal. We are also engaged in multisite clinical and laboratory activities across the CIUSSS-ODIM and Optilab McGill. The division contributes to the core academic mission of McGill through clinical teaching of medical students, family medicine and internal medicine residents, and ID fellows.
