ISS is available virtually and in-person Mondays-Fridays during business hours.
International postdoctoral fellows who hold a valid work permit for a period of at least 6 months qualify for the Quebec provincial health plan Régie de l'assurance maladie du Québec(RAMQ). They will be subject to a 3-month waiting period for the RAMQ benefits from the time their application is filed with the RAMQ office. The current administrative structure of the International Health Insurance plan does not accommodate contracts that are 3-months or less. However, those who are in the 3-month waiting period or whose valid work permits are for less than 6 months can obtain temporary medical coverage.
This temporary medical coverage can be purchased from a private insurer.

In addition to the RAMQ coverage, postdoctoral fellows must be enrolled in the PGSS supplemental Health and Dental insurance plans offered through their automatic membership of the Post-Graduate Students’ Society (PGSS).
