Leon Perez Pocheco, BA Honours Political Science

FUDELA, Quito, Ecuador

I am a Latin American student at McGill who just completed a Bachelor of Arts in political science and will be starting a BCL/LLB degree in September 2017. My academic research is focused on human rights advocacy, particularly the rights of refugees in Canada and the rest of the world. My goal by pursuing a degree in law is to acquire professional tools and knowledge to become an active human rights advocate. This summer 2017, I will be interning at FUDELA in Quito, Ecuador, where I will be developing a monitoring system for projects conducted by this civil organisation and the UNHCR.

Caroline is a fourth-year undergraduate student in political science and international development studies. This fall she will be working as an Analytical Intern within the Threat and Risk Assessment Service division of the United Nations Department of Safety and Security in Panama. Impassioned by the inner workings of the United Nations, diplomacy, and policy-writing, Caroline is excited to broaden her insight into Latin American security issues and threats to UN operations in the region. Having interned for Global Affairs Canada and the U.S. State Department, she aims to work as a career diplomat with a specific focus on sustainable development and human rights.
