CAREER WORKSHOP: Surviving the First Five

Tuesday, November 2, 2021 09:30to11:00

Interested in preparing yourself for your first five years in the classroom?

Come to the Surviving the First Five career workshop! McGill's Education Career Services is excited to host Anne-Sophie Averback, Secondary Teacher at LBPSB, for an interactive career preparation workshop on November 2, 2021 from 9:30 AM to 11:00 AM.

Purpose of this workshop: New teachers often find themselves teaching out of many different departments, with new challenges they did not encounter while in university. This workshop aims to bring new teachers together to discuss their experiences and hopefully leave with a few new tricks up their sleeves.

This workshop will discuss:

  • How to use GPI not only for report cards but how to access a student’s timetable, their past grades, review their IEP and a few other useful functions!
  • The benefits of getting involved in your school and where to start.
  • A presentation of a few choice classroom games and activities applicable to almost any subject matter that jazz up a lesson and a few classroom management tricks for when your lesson ends early.

The workshop will end with an open exchange about the challenges attendees are facing and a collective brainstorming of solutions.

REGISTER TODAY for "Surviving the First Five", an interactive workshop for McGill Education students and alumni (B.Ed. + MATL).

This workshop is for pre-service teachers studying at McGill University (MATL, and all BEd specializations – PhysEd, K/Elem, Secondary, Music).
