This talk will introduce Michael Rothberg’s influential study on Multidirectional Memory (2009) and the debates to which it gave rise when it appeared in German translation in 2021. It examines the post-colonial challenges, importance, and impact of Holocaust memory within German society, especially regarding Jewish-Muslim relations and the demands of various migrant groups.
