Explore Program - Summer term only

Canada Explore ProgramThe "Explore" Program is a Federally-funded intensive French-immersion bursary program that is offered during the spring or summer for people with any skill level in French.

Explore participants are awarded a $2,200 bursary (taxable income) that covers tuition fees for the course, instructional materials, meals, and accommodation. You will discover another region of Canada while learning French in classes adapted to your language level. Through classroom instructions, workshops, sociocultural activities, and field trips, you will not only improve your language skills, but discover the culture of a new region as well, all while exploring, meeting new people from across the country, and exchanging ideas in a stimulating environment perfect for learning the French language. Important

McGill Law students can only participate in the Summer program. Not all courses offered through this program are for credit. It is important to read the Explore website to ensure that the host university you select grants university-level credits for its courses.

When a student is accepted for an Explore bursary and confirms their registration at the host institution, they must sao.law [at] mcgill.ca (inform the SAO).

Eligibility

At the time of application, you must have a minimum CGPA of 2.00

Application Procedure

  • Two-tier application process: apply via the SAO then to Explore.
  • You cannot apply to CREPUQ for this program
  • Student submits a simplified Minerva Study Away application (student only indicates in the comments they wish to take course offered through the Explore program) and an Approval of Transfer Credit Assessment form to request course approval.
  • Student applies on the Quebec government website.
  • When student is accepted and confirms their registration at the host institution they email this decision to the( SAO) for approval. I takes a minimum of 5 working days to process.

Order an official transcript and have it sent directly to Enrolment Services immediately after completing your studies.

Grades for transfer credits do not enter into any McGill grade point calculations (TGPA/CGPA); however, the number of credits granted will appear on the McGill transcript. For students who study away at a non-partner institution or via IUT must receive a minimum grade of “C” for credits to be granted. Transcripts must be received at McGill by August 1.
