On May 31, the Honourable Juanita Westmoreland-Traoré will receive a Doctor of Laws, honoris causa, and give the commencement address at the Faculty of Law’s convocation ceremony.

The Faculty of Law places 23rd worldwide, up two from 2017 in QS World University Rankings

In the 2018 World University Rankings by Subject published by Quacquarelli Symonds, McGill University’s Faculty of Law placed 23rd best place to study law worldwide, slightly up from the 25th rank in 2017. Since the ranking was introduced by QS in 2011, the Faculty of Law has consistently secured a spot in the global top 35. The QS ranking is based on academic reputation, employer reputation, H-index citations, and citations per paper.

New Alumni Relations and Career Development Office staff members

The Faculty of Law is pleased to welcome four new staff members in its administrative team. Three new people have joined our University Advancement team, in charge of promoting engagement within our alumni community and fundraising for Faculty priorities. As Advancement Director, Isabelle Limoges took the helm of the team, while Davina Loporcaro and Julie Timmins have joined the ranks as Advancement Officers.

Call for student contributions - Seminar on "Reconciling Product Safety and Civil Liability: Governance in the Age of Risk and Uncertainty"

Professors Marie-Eve Arbour (Laval) and Lara Khoury (McGill) invite Law students in the BCL/LLB, LLM or DCL programs to submit a proposal for a scientific contribution to the above seminar, which will take place June 6-8, 2018, in Sacacomie, Quebec.

The selected students will have the opportunity to present their work as part of this seminar and to benefit from the mentorship of participating researchers from six countries.

Emeritus Professor John W. Durnford (1929–2017)

Montreal, 1 December 2017 – The Faculty of Law has learned with deep sadness of the passing of Professor Emeritus John W. Durnford on Thursday, 30 November 2017, at the age of 88. His death is a grievous loss to the McGill Law community.
