Organized in collaboration with the Sciences Po Law School, ‘Eating Popcorn like a Lawyer’ is a seminar series that seeks to establish a continuous dialogue between the fields of law and film. For each session we invite a prominent legal scholar to select, discuss and analyze a thought-provoking film.

Join us to discuss Steven Spielberg’s modern classic Catch Me If You Can (2002) with banking and payment law expert, lecturer and avid moviegoer Marc Lemieux (Lemieux Law Firm & McGill Faculty of Law). Together we will shine critical light on the romantic depiction of bank account fraud and law enforcement. The film’s focus on a rich victim (Pan Am) obfuscates the pain and shame that criminals, cold-hearted “customer care” employees and unfit police officers inflict on real victims on a daily basis all around the world.

The film is to be watched beforehand. Through the McGill Library it is freely available for streaming here.
