Profs. Kathryn Chan and Howard Kislowicz are undertaking a project employing a range of metho dologies to address this question.\n\nSpecifically\, the research aims to answer:\n (1) When and how do non-governmental actors intervene in cases in volving religious freedom claims?\n (2) How do these interveners influence the judicial development of constitutional norms?\n (3) What are the implic ations of the collected evidence for theories of whether and how intervent ions are valuable to the adjudication of constitutional claims?\n\nProf. K islowicz will discuss the team’s quantitative analysis\, which confirms th e frequent intervention of a limited number of non-governmental actors in religious freedom litigation in Canada\, along with the infrequent interve ntion of a larger and more diverse group of non-governmental actors. He wi ll also discuss the team’s qualitative analysis\, which modestly supports the view that interveners affect the substance of judicial decisions on re ligious freedom in Canada.\n DTSTART:20190221T193000Z DTEND:20190221T203000Z LOCATION:EDUC 627\, Education Building\, CA\, QC\, Montreal\, H3A 1Y2\, 370 0 rue McTavish SUMMARY:Divine Intervention: The Role and Impact of Interveners in Canadian Religious Freedom Litigation URL:https://www.mcgill.ca/law/channels/event/divine-intervention-role-and-i mpact-interveners-canadian-religious-freedom-litigation-294495 END:VEVENT END:VCALENDAR
