Northwest Territories Digital Atlas

Description

The Northwest Territories, Canada Digital Atlas is a collection of maps and data based on work led by the World Wildlife Fund (WWF) Canada. The maps and data provide information on industrial development proposals (i.e. natural gas pipeline development), ecoregions, watersheds, topographical features, landscape units, landuse permits, oil & gas activities, mineral activities, tourism, archaelogical sites, ecologically & culturally significant areas, timber productive forest, fire history, vegetation, landcover, soil landscapes, elevation, surficial geology, bedrock geology, annual mean temperature, annual mean precipitation, annual mean snowfall and "Digital & Scanned Northern Land Use Information Series".

Access

Location: Geographic Information Centre. GEO REF G3530 2002 W6 CD-ROM. Please ask staff for access.

The digital maps are available on 3 CDROMs. The "main disk" automatically runs a user-friendly interface for accessing the atlas maps. ArcView shapefiles (found on Supplemental Disk 1) can be added to an existing or new project within the ArcView environment.

Data Format

The data files are available in ArcView shapefile format. Maps (11 x 17 inches) are available in PDF format.
