Application for study space (Law)

Cubicles and carrels will be assigned throughout the Fall semester as study space becomes available.

Graduate students who currently have an assigned cubicle or carrel in the library need not reapply.

Assignment of study space

Graduate Students in Law (DCL/LLM) who do not have assigned space elsewhere in the university can apply for reserved study space in the Law Library. As there is limited space, assignment priority is given to DCL students followed by LLM thesis students. The reserved study space cannot be shared or transferred. Assigned space that is unoccupied for more than three weeks will be revoked.

Procedure for borrowing

In order to keep library books at the assigned cubicle/carrel, each book must be borrowed at the Service Desk, where a “DO NOT REMOVE” slip will be issued. Library books borrowed after service hours at the Self-Check Unit must be brought to the Service Desk the following day for “DO NOT REMOVE” slips. Law Library books that do not have an identifying slip will be removed.

After hour access privileges

These privileges apply only to authorized users. For security reasons, no one can accompany you onto the premises. Do not permit anyone to follow you into the library after you have used the McGill card reader to enter the building. Access to the building is on an individual basis.

Security reminder

The library is open to the public. Cubicles and carrels are not secure. Do not leave anything of value in the assigned space, including books borrowed from other libraries.
