The Neuro

The logo of the Neuro, a teal neuron with the word Neuro written in purple.

Founded in 1934, The Montreal Neurological Institute & Hospital (the Neuro), a McGill University research and teaching institute, is a world-leader in specialized neuroscience research and advanced patient care. The Neuro houses over 65 specialized researchers in brain development and function, including both brain trauma and disease, ranking it the largest brain research centre in Canada and among the largest globally. The Neuro has provided the infrastructure and resources to some of the world's most influential neuroscientists and neurosurgeons, such as the legendary Dr. Wilder Penfield and Prof. Brenda Milner, and the co-founders and scientific directors of the Ludmer Centre, Prof. Alan Evans.

With access to world-class neuroimaging facilities at the McConnell Brain Imaging Centre, and the resources of the Tanenbaum Open Science Institute, the Neuro extends the Ludmer Centre's research potentials.

Funding from the Ludmer Centre has helped investigators at the Ludmer Centre to launch multiple innovative projects, and to empower the local and global neuroscience community to collaborate and partner together in the fight against brain disorders.
