With the proliferation of equipment generating data in agriculture, the possibilities to improve management of agricultural processes through the analysis of these data are numerous. This increase in farm-generated data will lead to information storage and data analysis challenges in coming years. However, there are also other challenges associated with this technological advancement, and digitization will lead to problems that only few agricultural organizations around the world have addressed so far. With digitization, the agricultural industry will be confronted with ethical, legal, economic, sociological, educational, political and data governance issues.

This Valacta presentation will address the following topics:

  • What is the perception of Valacta about numeric challenges in agriculture?
  • How could the McGill Faculty of Agriculture contribute to help facing these challenges?
  • How to establish a collaborative approach between McGill University, Université Laval and Université de Montréal for facing these challenges?
