Published: 11 December 2017

Congratulations to Jan Adamowski (Bioresource Engineering) and Elena Bennett (Natural Resource Sciences) on their induction into the Royal Society of Canada. The announcement was made in September, and the induction ceremony was held in late November.

CITATIONS:

ADAMOWSKI, Jan Franklin – Department of Bioresource Engineering, McGill University
Jan Franklin Adamowski is an outstanding researcher with an exceptionally wide range of research contributions in the water resources field. He is engaged in pioneering research that integrates both engineering and social sciences, allowing him to be at the forefront of helping to address the pressing need for new approaches to support water resources decision making in the face of increasing challenges and uncertainties.

BENNETT, Elena M. – Department of Natural Resource Sciences and McGill School of Environment, McGill University
Elena Bennett is an ecologist studying how to maintain sustainable livelihoods and human wellbeing in agricultural landscapes. Her work has laid the theoretical, conceptual, and quantitative groundwork for ecosystem service science,
shifting the thinking from a focus on reducing human environmental impact to one that considers the long-term sustainability of multiple benefits across space and time.
