Four Mac Undergrads Awarded for Outstanding USRA Posters
On September 7, thirty two AES undergraduate research awardees shared posters illustrating their summer research jobs.
Dean Anja Geitmann broke through the waves of animated conversation to congratulate the students for engaging in this inspiring science conversation and to award four researchers for their outstanding posters:
- First Place: Gabriela Teixeira Mena Bittencourt, NSERC USRA, In Silico Detection of Conjugative Plasmids in E. coli from Bovine, Supervisor Dr. Xin Zhao, Animal Science
- Second Place: Ririka Saito, Brown Martlet USRA, Chemical fingerprinting of Nectars From Blueberry (Vaccinium corymbosum) Flowers and Other Plants Relevant to Major Honey Produced in Quebec, Supervisor, Dr. Stephane Bayen, Food Science and Agricultural Chemistry
- Third Place: Omid Sadeghpour Marvi, NSERC USRA, From waste to value: the optimization of biocatalytic production of lactobionic acid, a value-added functional ingredient, from cheese whey, Co-supervisors Dr. Varoujan Yaylayan and Dr. Salwa Karboune, Food Science and Agricultural Chemistry
- Fourth Place: Mikaela Borgeaud-Leblanc, NSERC USRA, Cow Moose Calving Behaviour in Eeyou Istchee, Supervisor, Dr. Murray Humphries, Natural Resource Sciences
