Learning Health Systems

A learning health systems is a system wherein “science, informatics, incentives, and culture are aligned for continuous improvement and innovation, with best practices seamlessly embedded in the delivery process and new knowledge captured as an integral by-product of the delivery experience"1.

Learning health systems can advance clinical research through the collection and analysis of thousands of data-points about diverse domains at various junctures in treatment and from different programs. The learning health systems approach has been shown to promote innovation, bridge the gaps between evidence and practice, and improve the quality of healthcare in various contexts.
