Computer-aided Modeling

Professors working in this area include:

Computer modelling is fundamental in nowadays materials engineering as it allows researchers to understand and predict materials properties such as stability and reactivity. This can be also used to optimize the materials processing routes. The research on computer-aided modelling in our department is carried out in the groups led by Professors Kirk Bevan, Roderick Guthrie, Mainul Hasan, Jun Song and In-Ho Jung.

Professors Guthrie and Hasan focus on the Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) simulation.

Professor In-Ho Jung focuses on the computational thermodynamic modeling and database development for metallic and ceramic systems to design new materials and optimize processing routes based on the FactSage software which is being used by several hundreds of customers world-wide.
