Mathematics in Machine Learning (MiML Seminar)
Title: Introduction to Artificial Intelligence
Abstract: This is the introductory seminar in a new seminar series on the mathematics of machine learning. The seminar series will have research talks on current topics as well as tutorials and working group discussions on mathematical aspects of machine learning.
The first meeting will be a non-technical introduction aimed at an undergraduate mathematics audience to the field of artificial intelligence as of 2017. The talk is based on a report by the JASON Defence Advisory Panel:Perspectives on Research in Artificial Intelligence and Artificial General Intelligence Relevant to DoD, which gives a sober overview of the topic.
