Statistical approaches to precision medicine: An overview

Precision medicine is an approach to care that aims to tailor treatments to patient characteristics. Determining good tailored treatment strategies requires statistical expertise, and many challenges arise in estimation and inference that are not encountered in typical analyses. In this presentation, I will give an overview of the field of precision medicine from a statistical viewpoint, and introduce some of the current analytic tools focusing on a single-stage setting, before turning to some case-studies of real-world analyses.
