Mathstat Graduate Student Seminar - Alessandro Ricottone

Tuesday, October 23, 2018 13:00to14:00
Burnside Hall Room 1025 (Lounge), 805 rue Sherbrooke Ouest, Montreal, QC, H3A 0B9, CA

This week, Alessandro Ricottone will talk to us about how he learned to stop worrying and love irreversibility:

What is the role of information in physics? Would you get more information by reading Michele's PhD thesis or one of Borges's imaginary books? I will discuss the relation between entropy and information, giving increasingly simpler definitions of entropy and using cellular automata as illustrative examples. I will also draw two triangles and the sun.

See you all there!
