Library Services

Retired McGill faculty enjoy the same borrowing privileges as active McGill faculty. A McGill photo ID card is needed to borrow print items and McGill email and password are required to access e-resources.

The McGill Library has twelve branches including the Macdonald Campus Library in Sainte-Anne-de-Bellevue. Hours of service and email and telephone contact information can be found on the Library’s website. McGill librarians and their subject responsibilities can be found here.

For more assistance, visit the Library FAQ page. You can chat, email, text or call us - see the "Questions? Ask us!" page.

Library services include:

  • workshops to develop research skills,
  • online subject guides to disciplinary areas,
  • a growing collection of e-journals, e-books, bibliographic databases, print and multi-media resources, on most topics,
  • specialist resources and data,
  • software for managing citations and bibliographies,
  • a McGill e-Scholarship digital repository for archiving and distributing research, and
  • rare and special collections to support research.
