Academics Without Borders Canada (formerly called Academics for Higher Education and Development) is a bilingual non-governmental organization based in Montreal with volunteers working around the world. The purpose of AWBC to help build capacity in tertiary education in the developing world, thereby improving and extending higher education for the achievement of the Millennium Development Goals. It takes applications from potential volunteeers. AWBC specifically seeks the services of retired academics. Canadian Executive Services Overseas (CESO) is a not-for-profit organization that helps make economic development and sustainability a reality through the collaborative effort of volunteers, supporters and clients. Over 2,800 distinguished Volunteer Advisers (VAs) on the CESO roster share their professional experience by serving as mentors, advisers and trainers to clients and partners at home and abroad. Other Opportunities:
 Tel-Aide, a listening centre for people in difficulty, is looking for volunteers for its program. It is the first listening centre in Québec and has received over 2 million calls since l971. Members are invited to put their names forward by using the Tel-Aide website or by telephone at 514-935-1105.  Volunteer Bureau of Montréal recruits volunteers for more than 700 charitable and non-profit organizations active in many fields–including health and social services, community development, sports and recreation, education, the environment, arts and culture and others.
