Apply to McGill
Students should first be officially nominated by their home institution before submitting the online application to McGill University.
Note: nomination to the exchange program is not a guarantee of acceptance by McGill - minimum admission standards will apply.
When do I apply?
Deadline to apply:
- Undergraduate studies:
- Fall only or full year sessions - November 1 to May 1
- Winter only - June 1 to October 1
Note: the Faculty of Law only has one deadline of May 1 for any term
Decisions on applications to undergraduate studies occur on a rolling basis, and all applications should have a decision within one month of the posted deadlines.

Proof of English Language Proficiency
The following is required ONLY if the student's home university’s primary language of instruction is NOT English
Undergraduate Studies: a letter signed by an academic official at the home university indicating proficiency in English.
Note: If a letter can't be provided, then English language test scores must be and must meet McGill’s minimum requirements listed on the English language proficiency page on the Applying to Undergraduate Studies website.
Graduate Studies: for minimum requirements, refer to the English language proficiency page on the Future Graduate Students website.

- On the Program Choice Selection page:
- Select the appropriate faculty
- Select “Exchange” for both the Program and Major or Subject fields
- After submitting the online application: a confirmation email will be sent
- Upload the required supporting documents to the submitted online application - do not mail hard copies or email as attachments:
(in Minerva for Undergraduate programs and uApply for Graduate programs)- Copy of recent transcript - include ALL pages (including the back of the page)
- Copy of letter of nomination
- If applicable, copy of letter from an academic official confirming proof of English proficiency (graduate applicants - arrange for test scores to be sent directly to McGill
- If applicable, mail or upload program specific documents (example: Architecture portfolio)
- Decision: Once a decision is rendered, student will be prompted to accept their offer of admission. The official decision letter will generated and available for download and printing via Minerva or uApply. Note: hard copies are no longer mailed.
