Dr. Silvia Vidal
Biography: 

Dr. Silvia Vidal is a Full Professor of Human Genetics. She is the Director of McGill University Research Centre for Complex Traits. Dr. Vidal uses functional genetic approaches to characterize host-pathogen interactions and identify targets of possible intervention to reduce virus growth or inflammatory responses. Her research covers Influenza virus, Cytomegalovirus, Coxsackievirus, and Herpes Simplex 1. Her laboratory uses a series of cutting edge technologies and experimental systems, including mouse genetic models, functional assays, multiparameter flow cytometry, RNA sequencing, exome sequencing, CRISPR mutagenesis, models of inflammation, and neurotropism. She trains MSc, PhD, and post-doctoral fellows.
