Career Planning Advice

Mandate

The Career Advisors at the Office for Medical Learner Affairs work to support the medical student in seeking out and interpreting meaningful experiences and relevant information, as well as developing career management skills that will assist them throughout medical school, residency and during future career transitions.

To accomplish this, they partner with many internal and external parties to include all relevant expertise and ensure support for the career advising process throughout the four years.

The mandate of the OMLA Career advising service is to deliver a structured approach to career advising, respond to learner feedback, and implement improvements to the career planning program in order to:

  1. Provide information about available career options, considering the evolving needs of the Quebec and Canadian populations
  2. Provide elective guidance
  3. Support students in their preparation for residency applications
