Talk to Loved Ones

Sometimes our loved ones know us better than we know ourselves. As an anecdote, I remember a medical student telling me that his partner remarked to him that whenver they were chatting over dinner, he just kept on talking about a particular specialty, and seemed happiest and most excited during that clerkship rotation. The partner's input helped the student realize this was indeed the specialty for him!

This type of observation by your nearest and dearest (or alternatively your loved one may notice that they've never seen you so cranky and miserable as when you were completing XYZ rotation!) may help you to arrive at a decision.
